That is why I am putting together this blog for Weleda's Mother Care range. You will have all the Weleda products for pregnant woman and new mothers in this blog.
Weleda’s mother care range was created for this reason with products formulated to support your wellbeing during pregnancy, birth, and breastfeeding. Packed with the goodness of nature the mother care range is safe and reliable, allowing you to enjoy this wonderful time.
♥ Stretch Mark Oil
Your body goes through a lot changes during pregnancy and can sometimes use a little help keeping up. Weleda’s stretch mark oil was formulated to help nourish skin keeping it smooth, elastic and resilient. It is ideal for helping prevent stretch marks forming and provides a pleasant experience as you gently massage it into the skin.
Sweet almond oil, jojoba oil, vitamin E rich wheat germ oil and arnica extract are the key natural ingredients responsible for protecting and supporting your skin. Precious oils of rose, neroli, myrrh, and frankincense give off a pleasant light natural floral scent.
The effectiveness of Weleda’s stretch mark oil has been dermatologically tested. Results showed the oil’s ability to prevent stretch marks by visibly increasing skin elasticity and maintaining skin´s moisture. For best results simply apply to your stomach and breasts twice daily. Gently massage it in with circular motions to stimulate circulation. Relax and enjoy it as part of your daily rituals. Using it always feels like more of a treat than a chore.
My Personal Experience: I love this stretch mark oil, it has beautiful consistency, the oil is rich but easy to be absorbed. It smells wonderful, it has a very subtle flora scents which I love. I use it as my body oil as well. Only downside of this product is it is an oil, so be careful when you apply it on your body, definitely can not trust your hubby who is just a little clumsy 🙂 it can go everywhere.
♥ Perineum Massage Oil
Perineum massage is a technique used to help prepare the body and reduce the risk of tearing while giving birth. The right massage technique helps stretch the perineum and improves blood flow. To decide if this is right for you talk to your obstetrician. Do your own research to ensure you do it safely and effectively.
If you are going to use perineum massage a lubricant, such as a massage oil, is recommended. It helps make things easier and more comfortable. Weleda’s perineum massage oil is full of highly nourishing natural ingredients including gentle almond oil and vitamin E rich wheat germ oil to improve skin elasticity.
My Personal Experience: Only 20 weeks, so not ready to use this oil. Will definitely ask my OB and will provide an update on this product.
♥ Nipple Cream
Breastfeeding can be a taxing time on your nipples, particularly in the beginning as they adjust. For most, it becomes easier as you and baby get the hang of things. Weleda’s nipple care cream is specially formulated to help prepare your nipples for breastfeeding and care for them once you start. By helping minimising pain and discomfort nipple cream allows you to focus on enjoying this special time and bonding with your new little one.
Weleda’s nipple care cream is a lightly textured, yet rich moisturiser, ideal for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Throughout the last 6-8 weeks of pregnancy, apply a small amount of cream to the nipple and areola twice daily, to condition the nipples and promote healthy, supple skin in preparation for breastfeeding. Once breastfeeding, apply a small amount of cream after feeding to the nipple and areola to moisturise and protect.
It is hard to single out one specific hero ingredient in this nipple cream. There are a lot of wonderful ingredients working together to provide effective support and relief for your nipples. The moisturising properties of aloe vera, marshmallow and natural plant oils soften and care for the nipple, while astringent horsetail and nettle tone and condition the skin. Calendula and chamomile calm, soothe and support the healthy renewal of tender, cracked skin, and rose oil provides a delicate fragrance.
My Personal Experience: I have already started using this cream as my nipples are painful and cracked not long after I got pregnant. I like how moisturising it is but not a big fan of the smell. It smells more like a mixture of herbal medicine. I think I will still use it for breastfeeding because I trust the ingredients in the cream.
♥ Nursing Tea
Weleda’s nursing tea helps promote a healthy milk flow and soothes digestion for both mother and baby. Their proprietary blend of organic herbs is ideal for providing natural lactation support. Fenugreek seed is the hero ingredient and is well known for effectively helping improve milk supply. Anise seed, fennel bitter seed, caraway seed, and lemon verbena leaves are also included and have traditionally been used to support a healthy milk flow and relieve indigestion, colic, and flatulence (gas), bloating and fullness.
Pleasant tasting with an aromatic fragrance. If you enjoy herbal tea you will adore this nursing tea. The fragrance makes me think of spiced licorice although it does not have a strong licorice flavour. This nursing tea is easy and convenient to prepare coming in tea bags. It is ideal to drink up to 3 cups daily. They provide a pleasant, relaxing and nourishing experience.
My Personal Experience: Not there yet, but it does have very strong flavour as it contains anise seed, fennel bitter seed, fenugreek seed and other spices.
♥ Blackthorn Elixir
Tiredness and fatigue are common during pregnancy. Your body is going through a very demanding process, it is inevitable you will feel your energy levels drop. Before you throw in the towel why not try giving your energy levels a boost with some extra nutrients?
Weleda’s organic blackthorn elixir takes the goodness of blackthorn (prunus spinosa) delivers it in a concentrate for making a pleasant warm drink mixing it into a glass of water or tea. Blackthorn is a great source of antioxidants, particularly strong oxidants knows as OPCs (oligomeric proanthocyanidins).
OPCs have a range of known health benefits including increased energy and relieving fatigue. It does this by supporting and stimulating your metabolic system, particularly anabolic metabolism which is responsible for growing new cells and maintaining cell tissue.
My Personal Experience: I am always sleepy and tired now and I could sleep up to 12 hours a day, so have just started drinking it, will update my experience in 2 weeks time.
